Parks & Trails New York’s Empire State Trail Town Program recognizes and supports New York’sexceptional trailside communities. Through a competitive application process the Cayuga County communities of Montezuma, Port Byron and Brutus were selected to participate in the program due to their commitment and willingness to leverage the full economic potential of the Empire State Trail.

A workshop is being hosted by the local Steering Committee with members from each community and Parks and Trails, NY. It is an opportunity to learn about the exciting new program being launched. There will be a brief introduction to the Trail Town model, background on outdoor recreation tourism, and inspiration from other Trail Towns. From there, the workshop will serve as
an opportunity for participants to think about the Trail Town’s top assets (places, businesses, events, and experiences) identified in a Self Assessment which has been completed by the Steering Committee and gaps or areas for improvement, potential
connections, and ideas for branding and place making.
